A massive blackout impacting various neighborhoods in Buenos Aires has prompted a special police operation at the San Cristóbal police station. Authorities ensure no escape attempts by prisoners housed at the station during this outage.


Massive Blackout Affects Police Operations in Buenos Aires

According to police sources reported to the Argentine News Agency, the police station and several surrounding areas are without electricity due to a general power outage. The massive blackout affects areas in the southern Conurbano and various neighborhoods in the City of Buenos Aires such as Villa Crespo, La Paternal, Parque Patricios, San Cristóbal, La Boca, and Caballito.

Amid this situation, a special operation of the City Police has been deployed at a police station located in the San Cristóbal neighborhood, in order to prevent possible escape attempts by the 90 inmates housed in the facilities.

After 6 AM this Wednesday, a reinforcement of security has been established at the Comisaría Vecinal 1°C by blocking the intersection of San Juan and Entre Ríos avenues by City patrol cars. Despite the blackout situation, authorities state that there has been no escape attempt by the detainees.
